Preparing for RSE 2026: Confident and Compliant Teaching
- Assuming you are fully compliant with the statutory changes for 2026 … (and
if you’re not sure we can help with this.) - What does good learning and teaching look like and how can we ensure our
children receive their entitlement? - How should we adapt our curriculum provision to meet the needs of our
children?
Overview:
Relationships and sex education, within a wider framework of Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education is one of the most important and potentially sensitive subjects that we teach.
Frequently undervalued, learning in this area is the glue which holds schools and society together and contributes significantly to learning and attainment across the curriculum. Frequently dubbed ‘the safeguarding curriculum’ it not only helps to keep children safe, happy and well but also builds employability skills. The DfE statutory guidance changes as from September 2026 and this webinar will give colleagues all the details and build on this to ensure schools are not only compliant but enable their children and staff to flourish.
- What is the rationale for PSHE/RSE/R(S)HE (and what’s the difference between
these acronyms?) - What should we be teaching in 2026 and how should we be communicating this to
children, staff and parents? - What are the personal attributes, skills and knowledge (probably in that order) that
we should be helping children to develop, and how should we ensure an age-
appropriate, sequence curriculum? - What does high-quality learning and teaching look like in this area of the curriculum
and why is it so important that our pedagogy is different? - What are some of the emerging trends that we need to respond to?
- How can we help staff to respond to tricky questions?
- What about assessment, recording and reporting?
TARGET AUDIENCE:
Teachers of RSE / R(S)HE / PSHE and Governors in both primary and secondary
schools will benefit from the webinar, but it is especially suited to Subject Leaders
and members of SLT
