Mark Templeman
Mark has worked in UK prep and boarding schools for over 20 years, including senior leadership roles with responsibility for assessment, academic development and senior school progression. He is currently an assessment writer for ISEB and a Team Inspector with the Independent Schools Inspectorate. He previously served as a Deputy Headmaster and earlier roles included Head of Departments in Moscow, alongside teaching posts in the UK and Australia
Grant Whitaker
Formerly Director of Studies and Head of Mathematics at a Co-Ed Prep School in Buckinghamshire, Grant recently retired after teaching for over 30 years in Prep schools, including five years as a Housemaster in two Boarding Schools.
He is currently Head of Content at an educational gaming company, IAPS Consultant for Maths and ICT, editor of the SATIPS Maths Broadsheet and a member of the SATIPS Council. He is also communications officer for Maths Week England.
Tim Wheeler MBE
Tim Wheeler began his career at Norwich School, where he was a Housemaster and Head of 6th form studies. Following a spell as a consultant, he took on the role of Director of Studies at Bilton Grange before moving on to become Headmaster at Hereford Cathedral Junior School and then at Stockport Grammar Junior. He now ‘enjoys a life of leisure!’
Ben Mono
Ben Mono is Head of Geography at Eagle House School in Sandhurst where he has worked since 2002, having previously been Head of History and Geography at Mowden School (Lancing Prep), Hove, and before that teaching history and geography at Breaside Prep School in Bromley.
Ben is SATIPS Geography Broadsheet Editor as well as IAPS Geography Co-ordinator for District 10. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, Member of the Geographical Association and Recognised Apple Teacher.
Ben’s interests include travel, particularly to the USA, as well as politics, cinema and walking his dogs.
Chris Barnes
Chris’s 24 years in education have been spent in preparatory and international schools. He taught at the British International School, Moscow, where he was Assistant Head and latterly Deputy Head. A return to the UK came in 2012 as Deputy Head at Edenhurst Preparatory School, Staffordshire, before a further spell overseas as Milepost 3 Leader at Crescendo-HELP International School, Johor Bahru, Malaysia. At present he is teaching Year 6 at Altrincham Preparatory School, Cheshire. Chris is an English and Humanities specialist with a passion for outdoor and residential experiences.
He is the SATIPS Senior Management Broadsheet editor in addition to his Council role. Outside of school, Chris has a lifelong involvement with Scouting. He is a Deputy Group Scout Leader and a Training Advisor with British Scouting Overseas. His interests include travel, reading fantasy and spy fiction novels, and hillwalking.
Brenda Marshall
Brenda started teaching in grammar schools in Taunton. She then went to London and taught children aged 9-16.
She has been Head of English and Librarian in three UK Prep Schools and is a former IAPS English Co-ordinator and Member of the ISEB setting panel for English CE at 13+.
She has been a team inspector for ISI and has considerable experience teaching in UK Prep schools. She used to review for Carousel, is the Reviews Editor for English 4 – 11, the primary magazine of the English Association and UKLA, and she reviews for the School Library Association.
She is a member of the Primary and Secondary committees of the English Association, a committee member of East Kent School Library Association and an SLA mentor. She has organised conferences for SATIPS, IAPS and Taunton School, and is a Fellow of The English Association.
