Strengthening Writing Outcomes in the EYFS (3-5yrs)
Join us for this insightful twilight webinar for your early years team. Guiding and supporting children’s early writing is a skilful process and this will be explored during this bitesize session packed with practical solutions. Starting with child development and taking the latest research into account, practitioners will consider the experiences, activities and support they provide to promote children’s passion, confidence and skill in writing.
Overview:
The session draws on the current key documentation and research to inform key questions and reflections relating to our practice.
We will revisit the developmental stages of writing, including the development of physical skills needed for writing and mark- making, the development of phonological awareness and the emergence of narrative skills. As we consider the journey of writing development, we will reflect on how to plan for and create an environment rich in writing possibilities.
Our session will explore effective teaching strategies to challenge and inspire young writers, including routines to develop crucial narrative skills, purposeful group activities and a range of key texts which can be used to inspire young writers.
