Beetle

Looking at the anatomy of beetles, Poppy constructed each part individually from clay, pressing textures & tools into the surface to give a variety of unique effects to the finish. Underglazes were then used to give colour and vibrancy to her beetles, with the addition of small areas of nail polish for a shimmering, jewel-like finishing touch. The beetle’s legs were carefully made using electrical wires and tape, as were the antennae.
