Ed Clarke

Ed Clarke co-created the current CE Classics specifications and is a highly experienced examiner, having for a number of years headed up Common Entrance and Common Academic Scholarship exams for all three classical subjects at ISEB, both as Classics Co-Ordinator and Senior Subject Specialist for Latin.

He is a tutor, the author of Clarke’s Latin and Variatio: A Scholarship Latin Course, and formerly IAPS Classics Adviser, editor of the SATIPS Classics Broadsheet and Head of Classics at both Highfield School and Westminster Cathedral Choir School. He has written for The Spectator, the TES, The Independent, Quinquennium and the Journal of Classics Teaching and has addressed conferences for ISEB, IAPS and Keynote. He consulted for the DfE in launching their Latin Excellence Programme, which seeks to promote the teaching of Latin in state schools, and he campaigns for traditional, knowledge-rich teaching.
