SATIPS IS PRESENTING A WEBINAR ON THE CHANGES TO THE CE SPECIFICATIONS FOR CE ENGLISH AT 13+
TARGET AUDIENCE: Heads of Departments and Teachers who are interested in Common Entrance English at 13+
DATE: Thursday 19th November 2020 (5.00pm – 6.00pm)
This one hour webinar is designed for teachers of Common Entrance English at 13+ and will take a broad look at the new ISEB specifications which form the basis of English teaching from September 2021 and for examination from 2022 onwards.
The webinar will be led by Sarah North, member of the ISEB 13+ Common Entrance and CASE setting team for English and team leader for the 11+ Common Entrance setting team. Sarah is also a member of the ISEB’s Academic Committee Team for Humanities and its English Curriculum Consultation Group and can share insights into the new specifications and answer your questions.
- The new ISEB Specifications are designed to build 12 core values. Sarah will explain the thinking which led to their inclusion. She will discuss each value and explain how teaching can reflect their assimilation.
- She will focus on key changes to the 13+ papers
Paper 1 (Reading Skills) Section A, Section B and Section C
Why the change? What are the intended benefits for teachers and their pupils? How to prepare pupils for the new structure. The new drama content (suggested reading list).
Paper 2 (Writing Skills)
What are the changes?
A closer look at the marks scheme. How can we interpret and meet the demands of Band 5 (Ideas, Structure, Form and voice; SPAG and expression)
At the end of the webinar there will be an opportunity for delegates to share any concerns and to ask Sarah questions.
The webinar will be delivered via GoToMeeting. Delegates can either use their own webcams/microphones to ask questions or they can do so via a chat box.
You will need a link to the meeting room which will be emailed one week in advance with instructions on using the video conferencing site. You can either join in via a web browser, by downloading an app on to your laptop or via a phone or tablet.
