OVERVIEW
Although Latin was a language meant to be spoken aloud, sources for how it was pronounced, and how to pronounce it accurately, are topics hardly ever covered, even at university. This can result in the unintentional acquisition of bad habits – even among experienced teachers – which are then passed on to pupils. This webinar will comprise a 40 minute presentation dealing with these topics, and a suggested approach in the classroom, followed by an opportunity for discussion and questions. A pdf version of the presentation will be available subsequently.
SPEAKER: Bob Bass

Bob Bass has been teaching Prep School Classics for 45 years, in Somerset, Kenya and Sussex, before moving in 1987 to Orwell Park, Ipswich. He has served on the editorial board of the Journal of Classics Teaching and the Council of the Joint Association of Classical Teachers.
For twelve years he edited the SATIPS Classics Broadsheet, and for twenty years he was IAPS’ Subject Adviser in Classics. He is currently the Chief Setter of ISEB’s Common Entrance and Common Academic Scholarship Latin papers, proofreader for their Greek papers, and an IGCSE Latin paper reviser.
The author of various resources targeted at young learners of Latin and Greek, he was awarded an MBE in 2016.
