OVERVIEW

Session 1: Common Entrance – Why change?

  • The rationale behind the changes in the CE syllabus.
  • What has changed?
  • What has not?
  • Implications for Common Entrance and CASE examinations

Session 2: 2020 and All That

  • What a pandemic teaches us about the role of science education.
  • Has experience of online learning changed our views of pedagogy in Science?
  • The role of science education in developing independence and critical thinking in young scientists.

SPEAKER: Sue Hunter

Sue Hunter is a former Head of Science at St Hugh’s Preparatory School in Oxfordshire and for many years acted as a subject advisor and course leader for the IAPS. She has been a member of Common Entrance setting teams for many years and has set examinations for 11+ and 13+. She is currently a member of the 13+ Level 1 setting team. Sue co-authored the popular Galore Park 11+ Science textbooks and workbooks. She also wrote the 11+ Revision Guide and has contributed items on exam revision for the Galore Park blog.
