The new Geography National Curriculum is very broad and does not fall neatly into topics. This course will cover the content of the New Curriculum and how to turn it into an exciting and workable programme of study. It will also look at good quality Geography subject leadership in schools and will include fieldwork in the local area (so come prepared to go outside). Many teachers are nervous about teaching Geography and this course aims to give teachers confidence, both to teach and to lead others in Geography within your school.
Jacqueline Harris is an Education Consultant in London. Prior to that she was Deputy Head of an oversubscribed primary school in Hertfordshire. She has previously run well received courses on Geography and has led Geography in schools for over two decades. She is also involved in Initial Teacher Training through the Graduate Teacher Programme. Her passion is high quality children’s literature and inspiring children to be lifelong readers.
