Course: Lesson Observation and Performance Management

This course will explore practical strategies to ensure rigorous and robust lesson observations are at the centre of any school performance management processes; and highly effective lesson observation is used to inform and improve outstanding learning and teaching.
This course will
• Establish an open door culture for sharing best practice across subjects
• Develop teaching staff as reflective practitioners
• Provide the top 10 pitfalls to AVOID when observing lessons
• Provide a framework for making accurate judgements
• Strategies to use feedback to develop teaching and learning
John Medlicott is the Director of JMC an Educational Consultancy which provides free bespoke advice on training and consultancy for Preparatory and Senior Schools in the UK and internationally. John started his career in Prep school in Worcestershire, before moving to Harrow School as Assistant Housemaster. He has taught for over 19 years and has trained teachers for more than 13 years where he is regularly graded as “outstanding” by delegates. Over the past few years he has chaired and spoken as a Keynote Speaker at several National Conferences in School Leadership and Teaching and Learning. He has held a number of Senior Management positions as well as leading departments both in the UK and internationally and has considerable experience of the National Curriculum as well as the ISEB curricula. John writes and edits interactive educational software for Science teaching.
