This course will:
Put Carol Dweck’s mindsets theory into practice
Unpick how growth mindsets can increase the achievement of students
Fixed and growth mindsets and how they affect learning
The use of praise and feedback to influence mind set
Practical classroom activities that will develop:
• pupil resilience
• intellectual risk-taking
John Medlicott is the Director of JMC an Educational Consultancy which provides free bespoke advice on training and consultancy for Preparatory and Senior Schools in the UK and internationally. John started his career in Prep school in Worcestershire, before moving to Harrow School as Assistant Housemaster. He has taught for over 19 years and has trained teachers for more than 13 years where he is regularly graded as “outstanding” by delegates. Over the past few years he has chaired and spoken as a Keynote Speaker at several National Conferences in School Leadership and Teaching and Learning. He has held a number of Senior Management positions as well as leading departments both in the UK and internationally and has considerable experience of the National Curriculum as well as the ISEB curricula. John writes and edits interactive educational software for Science teaching.
